Tea Ceremony @HAYDEN

Tea Ceremony at Hayden

A very special, two part event, that will introduce participants to the centuries old connection between tea and ceramics.

Chado, the "Way of Tea," fundamentally is just a way of mindfully sharing space with others over a bowl of tea. It is a seven-hundred-year-old tradition rooted in four principles: peace, respect, purity, and tranquility.

Bitter Root Pottery is excited to announce a very unique opportunity in partnership with Match Stoneware - an authentic Chabako Tea Procedure led by tea expert Miles Bothwell*. Sitting amongst Bitter Root’s Alder tree forest, you'll sip matcha tea, carefully prepared by Miles, in tea bowls hand-crafted by Match Stoneware for the occasion. Traditional Japanese treats will also be included. Then, Miles will lead a discussion of the many aspects of tea and tradition.

Afterward, you will get to sit at the potter wheels and Sandy Beckerman will guide you in a wheel-throwing class to craft your very own tea bowl.

Lastly, you will get to keep the Match Stoneware tea bowl from the ceremony. Match is also offering a 20% discount to use in their showroom that day only.
