1. ADULT BEGINNER WHEEL THROWING

$105 per person · Ages 18+

Your introduction to the pottery wheel. Learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment. Our instructors will guide you step by step as you shape clay on the pottery wheel and create your own ceramic pieces. Perfect for first-timers, creative afternoons, or anyone looking to try something new.

2. 🍷 SIP & THROW: FRIDAY NIGHT POTTERY

$110 per person · Ages 21+

Unwind, sip, and get creative. Leave the workweek behind and enjoy a fun, social Friday night at the pottery wheel. Learn the basics of wheel throwing and create your own ceramic pieces while enjoying a complimentary glass of chilled rosé. Perfect for date night, girls' night, or a creative night out.

3. 🕯️ THE PERFECT DATE NIGHT: MATCHING MUGS

$110 per person · Adults 18+

Make something together. Create a memory. Enjoy a cozy, romantic pottery experience designed for couples. With a romantic playlist and an inviting atmosphere, you and your partner will each create a custom ceramic mug — a matching set made by the two of you. No experience is necessary. Our instructors will guide you through the process, making this a memorable and creative date night.

  • Kindly note that once tickets are purchased, there are no refunds or reschedules permitted. To avoid any inconvenience, we kindly request that all interested individuals secure a ticket in advance, as entry may not be granted without one.

    If you’re visiting from out of town, you can arrange for shipping when your pots are ready (1-4 Pots Ships for $25 & 5+ Pots Standard Shipping Rates Apply)

    Please note: Our classes at the Baroque location is not guaranteed to take place outdoors. If a private event is scheduled in our outdoor area, the class will be held in our beautiful chandelier room, offering an equally charming and memorable pottery experience.

Outdoor/Indoor Area Classes
We cannot guarantee access to an outdoor area for every class due to availability, we make every effort to maximize the opportunities for our students to experience the outdoors. While outdoor classes are not guaranteed, we strive to provide a well-rounded pottery experience that incorporates the best of both indoor and outdoor environments. All of our pottery wheels indoor and outdoor offer stunning views and beautiful ambiance. Please feel free to roam around the studio before and after classes for photo opts.

 

At Bitter Root Pottery, we take great pride in offering our students and visitors an immersive and inspiring experience. Our pottery wheels are strategically placed both indoors and outdoors, providing stunning views and a beautiful ambiance. As you sit down to create your masterpiece, you can soak in breathtaking mountain views, be it the lush greenery of our indoor greenhouse or the Japanese koi pond on our outdoor deck. But our commitment to creating a memorable experience doesn't end there. You're welcome to explore the entire studio, capturing captivating moments for your keepsake. Take advantage of countless photo ops, whether it's before the class begins, during breaks, or after the session ends. We want you to not only take away pottery skills but also incredible memories that you can cherish for years to come.

WHAT IS INCLUDED AND WHAT TO EXPECT

 Classes include step-by-step instruction, clay, tools, choice of glaze color, and post-production of your pots (bisque and glaze firing). These classes are non-private classes and are NOT meant for intensive, 1-on-1 attention or for groups of 6 or more who want to go at their own pace. Others who are not in your group will be taking the class as well. If you want to go at your own pace or have a larger group, please book a private.

Your instructor preps the wheel area, clay and tools ahead of time. After a short intro and demo, students receive step-by-step instruction on how to make and design a pot on the wheel. For theses classes, we focus on making a bowl or a smaller pot that are best for beginners who’ve never thrown before (or haven’t thrown a lot). At the end of class, the instructor will guide everyone through a quick clean up. Students will then get to choose a glaze color for their piece.
Your pots stay at the studio and staff handle all the post-production - glazing and firing. Once every pot in your group is finished, the staff will contact you for pick-up.

**Please allow 7-8 weeks for your pottery to go through the entire firing process.


  • Please respect your instructor and the others in the studio - put your phones on vibrate or silent. Take all phone calls outside if needed.

    We provide tripods if you would like to film your experience!

  • All sales are final; we do not offer refunds for cancellations or purchases. If you need to cancel a booking, please notify us as soon as possible and we will take note, but no refunds or credit will be issued. Transfers or rescheduling may be handled on a case-by-case basis at Bitter Root Pottery discretion and are not guaranteed. By booking with us, you acknowledge and accept our refund and cancellation policy.

  • Come dressed comfortably! Please tie back long hair and remove any nice jewelry or watches. They won’t get damaged, but clay can be a pain to clean off. Bitter Root Pottery is not responsible for your jewelry or personal belongings. While the clay does wash out, we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. We do provide clean aprons for everyone.

    We also don’t recommend wearing tight or long dresses or skirts, as you’ll need to sit close to your wheel and move freely.

    You're more than welcome to bring a change of clothes for after class if you’re headed to your next destination!

  • Please allow at least 6-8 weeks for your pottery to complete the firing process. Staff will contact you via text message or email when everyone’s pottery in your group is ready to be picked up.  From the time of your contact, you have 30 days to come pick up your pottery. After 30 days, your work may not be available for pick-up as we need to clear room for new student work.

    Occasionally, pieces do not make it through the firing process due to air bubbles, construction issues, etc. Occasionally, firings do not go as planned - shapes may warp slightly or glazes may come out different than expected. Staff cannot control the results of firings once a pot is in the kiln. This is simply the nature of the imperfect ceramic process. Completed, “perfect” pots cannot be guaranteed. 

    REFUNDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF YOUR PIECE DOES NOT MAKE IT. 

    You are coming to Bitter Root Pottery for the whole experience of working in a ceramics studio with a knowledgeable, friendly instructor! Our instructors have been working for years in this discipline to learn its many nuances and to get to the skills they have today. These skills cannot be imparted in one 2 hour session. So, while you may have ideas of creating a perfect bowl, we encourage you to set those expectations aside and focus on enjoying the entire experience of working with clay and engaging in the creative process in such depth.
